JILI Dinosaur Tycoon — a dinosaur hunting game, and how to run it on a cheap phone
Dinosaur Tycoon looks like a fishing game, only with dinosaurs and flying creatures instead of fish. Its graphics are 3D and the animation is heavy. On a cheap phone that is the biggest challenge — slow loading, a hot phone and a battery that drains fast. So this page starts with handling the phone, then covers the rules and special weapons.
Why does Dinosaur Tycoon lag on an old phone, and what can you do?
3D games make the processor and graphics chip work harder than 2D games. The first time, it has to download the dinosaur models, backgrounds and sound, so on slow data the loading bar can sit still for a long time. During play, frames drop when a boss or an explosion appears.
- First load on Wi-Fi: once the big files are downloaded, the game usually opens faster next time, as long as you do not clear the cache.
- Careful with "cleaner" apps: if they wipe the cache, the game has to download from scratch every time and uses more data.
- Empty background: close other apps before playing. With little RAM the game can suddenly reload.
- Battery saver: on some phones battery saver makes the game even slower. If the battery is low, put the game off instead.
- Sound and brightness: music off and slightly lower brightness keep the phone cooler.
- Break when hot: if the phone feels hot in your hand, stop for a few minutes. Do not play for long while charging. A hot phone slows its own processor down, which makes lag worse.
- Take the case off: a thick cover traps heat. Taking it off during long sessions helps a little.
What happens if the network drops during play?
Every shot's result comes from the server. On a weak network there is a delay between shot and result. If it cuts out completely, the screen may freeze or the game may close. Do not keep tapping. On a moving bus or train the tower keeps changing and the connection keeps dropping — better not to start playing then. How do you play Dinosaur Tycoon?
In some lobbies you choose a hall when the game opens. Bet ranges and some prize calculations can differ by hall. Start with the basic hall.
Inside the hall, your cannon is at the bottom of the screen. Other players may be at the same table. Set your bet level with plus and minus. Tap towards the dinosaur you want to shoot. Each shot costs your bet level. When a creature is caught, you are paid according to its multiplier. With auto-shoot on, the cannon fires by itself — your hand rests, but costs rise fast.
Small creatures are worth less, big ones more. Nobody knows in advance how many shots each will take. To see each creature's value, open the help/paytable from the menu.
What do the Heavy Axe, Lightning Strike and Meteor Burst do?
- Heavy Axe: a strong hit on a chosen big creature. It costs several times a normal shot. It cannot be used on very low-value small creatures — check the help for the cut-off.
- Lightning Strike: hits one target and the lightning spreads to a few nearby dinosaurs. It costs even more.
- Meteor Burst: costs nothing extra. Normal shots fill an energy bar. When it is full, you can set off a big explosion in the middle of the screen.
Some special creatures do something extra when caught. For example, catching an Oviraptor gives you one random weapon — Shotgun Attack, Huge Bone or Dragon Fire. Some creatures like the frog explode on the spot and hit whatever is around. In these moments the animation on screen jumps, so dropped frames on an old phone are normal.
What are the Golden T-Rex and the Flying Dragon Wheel?
The Golden T-Rex is the game's main boss. Hitting it fills an energy bar little by little. A gold treasure chest can sometimes appear in the bar. Opening the chest gives the T-Rex prize, which is multiplied by a prize multiplier.
When the flying boss called the Pterodactyl King is caught, the Flying Dragon Wheel spins. The prize is set by multiplying the numbers on the wheel's inner and outer rings.
We do not give the maximum these can pay — check your lobby's game help/paytable. A boss can take many shots, or may not fall at all.
What should you check in the game's help/paytable before playing?
On purpose, this page gives no percentages, maximum wins or bet limits, because these can differ by lobby, hall and version. The accurate information is in the game's own help. Open the menu and read these once:
- Each creature's multiplier, and which ones are special creatures.
- How much the Heavy Axe and Lightning Strike cost per shot, and which creatures they can be used on.
- The smallest and largest bet levels in the hall you chose.
- How shots are counted if the connection drops or the game closes.
- How the Golden T-Rex and Flying Dragon Wheel prizes are counted.

How do you start with a small balance?
Start at the smallest bet level. At first fire only normal shots, and watch how each creature moves and how the Meteor Burst bar fills. Not the Heavy Axe or Lightning Strike on day one. Is Dinosaur Tycoon really a fishing game?
The way you play is the same as a fishing game — shoot with a cannon, get paid when you catch a creature. Only the theme is dinosaurs. So lobbies usually put it in the fishing category.
Do the weapons from the Oviraptor cost money?
They come as a reward for catching that creature. Check the game's help for how and for how long they can be used.
The game shows a black screen when it opens. What do I do?
Usually the files have not fully downloaded or RAM is low. Close other apps and wait a little. If that fails, clear the browser cache and open it again on Wi-Fi.
Aiming at flying creatures is hard on a small screen
Keep the phone in landscape. Focus on slower creatures instead of chasing fast ones. If taps register late, check both the network and the phone.
How much data does an hour of play use?
There is no fixed number; it varies by phone and network. The first load uses the most. To know your own figure, check your phone's data usage page before and after playing.
